What made Tony have the change of heart in regards to helping out Janice with the house? He seemed so resolutely against giving her anything... maybe b/c he realized that he could get it so cheaply w/o really putting himself out much?

I think it was because of the fit that Janice through about how Tony treats her and Bobby. Tony realized she was right..... I tend to be an open-minded kind of guy about things, but the gay love scenes really made me sick, I almost had to turn it off.
His session w/ the good doc about his childhood relationship w/ Janice may have also softened him up a bit.
teach tolerance.
This whole season is about Tony finally starting to soften up.

Yet he swung the sister hostility into Carmella's house problem and it came after there was no food and Meadow needed mommy there to cry on her shoulder.Originally Posted by Johnny Footstool
But the key to the change IMO was when Tony saw that Janice treated her stepkids like Lidia treated him. That must have made him feel sorry for her.
I think you nailed it, WOY. On both counts.Originally Posted by westofyou
The underlying theme is that he is changing, but only in small increments and only on his terms. He still often reverts to his standard behaviors (stealing the wine last week, trying to sleep with Juliana Marguiles, being petty and vindictive with Carmella), but he is now more open to moments of clarity and self-examination. He's slowly developing a conscience.Originally Posted by westofyou

Yep and the return of Vito will be the lithmus test for that and his world. He's slowly developing a conscience.
It will be interesting to see if A.J. starts to take on some of his father's old characterstics in the coming episodes and next season...

Vito becomes the problem that makes the Phil and Tony clash come to head.. and Tony's protection of him causes doubts from his crew.Originally Posted by WilyMoROCKS
Yep. I think Vito is Tony's new Pie-O-My (or Tracy, or the ducks).Originally Posted by westofyou

12 episodes in this session... then a 6 month hiatus I believe, followed up by 6 more episodes.Originally Posted by TeamCasey
Technically, it's 2 seasons, but it's really more like 1 super-long season with a mini-break in-between.
