    The Usual: Trade thoughts

    10 team 7x7 league.

AVG, R, HR, RBI, BB, E, SB

ERA, CG, W, SV, K, BB, HR

I am currently 3rd in this league. I am right there in the Top 4 in R, HR, RBI, SB, and BB. I am lacking in AVG and E. Pitching wise I am doing well in SV, BB, ERA, and Ks. I am low in W, CG, HR.

    My team:

    C - R. Hernandez
    1B/OF - Dunn
    2B - Vidro
    3B - Wright
    SS - Reyes
    OF - Holliday
    OF - Hawpe
    OF - T. Hunter
    OF - D. Roberts
    2B/3B - Lowell
DL - Matsui (traded Hoffman for him 2 days before he broke his wrist)
    DL - Lee

    SP - Pedro
    SP - Glavine
    SP - Buerhle
    SP - Lackey
    SP - Liriano
    SP - Francis
    SP - Haren
    RP - Papelbon
    RP - Nathan
    RP - Gonzalez
    RP - Otsuka
    DL - Patterson

The trade offer is Buerhle for Chad Tracy.

With Dunn struggling, Matsui gone till Sept, and Lee not due back for a month, will Tracy be a good pickup? I have plenty of pitching depth now that Liriano is starting.

Buerhle will give me no Ks and no CGs but will do well in W, ERA, and BBs.

Tracy will not make Es, hit for some power, score runs, and knock runs in. He will lack in SB and BBs.

Does this trade improve my team? Or do you think Buerhle could fetch something better than Tracy?

Buerhle's K rate is way down this year (around 4) and will likely start pitching worse so I don't think you will get much help in ERA from him. I think getting a guy like Tracy would be a good idea.

I think you are plenty deep enough at SP to make this deal, and Tracy is a good player. Should help you in AVG, and E's. Plus, Tracy's position flexibility should help your team. I think Buehrle for Tracy is a pretty even trade. ESPN shows that Buehrle has fetched Chone Figgins in the last 2 weeks in 1-1 deals, but I think that's a little too optimistic. He also got Aubrey Huff and Trevor Hoffman in 1-1 deals, so Tracy is probably right in with that group of players, maybe on the higher side of what Buehrle normally fetches.

    I'd do the deal.

    Sounds like a good deal.

I really like Tracy and drafted him on a couple of teams a little higher than most people would. I also really like Buerhle, I think he'll come around and end up with another fine season. Seems like a pretty fair deal and Tracy's multi-position eligibility sure comes in handy. When Lee and Patterson come off the DL, you are going to be in good shape.
More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.
