Ricciardi believes A.J. Burnett's injury is in his head

    http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/p.../1108/SPORTS01

Toronto is fed up with right-hander A.J. Burnett, who is on the disabled list with an elbow injury, even though his MRI was clean. Asked last week how Burnett was doing, manager John Gibbons said, "Who?"

Burnett has refused to play so much as long toss and hasn't picked up a ball since April 21. This from a player who signed a five-year, $55 million deal.

General manager J.P. Ricciardi is on record as saying the injury exists only in Burnett's head.

MRI can not show everything. They overpaid for damaged goods IMO.

I'm glad Burnett turned down the Cardinals' generous offer.

Agreed. And sometimes Doctors just are not wise enough. I had a problem one time in the arch of my foot. It was like this for some time, so I looked at what I was doing at work as a possible culprit because I used that particular foot on a pedal to lower tooling. So I asked my employer to pay to have it looked at and if I could stay off that particular job for awhile. It wasn't bruised (that I could see), nothing was broken or torn. I went to 2 different specialists and neither of them could find anything wrong. It certainly wasn't my imagination, but my employer thought I was pulling their chain all on the doctors say so. To this day I'm not sure what it was but the problem went away after some time away from said pedal. Needless to say It made me look bad in the eyes of my peers.

However I would imagine that the Jays indeed paid for damaged goods!

I will say this, I recently had surgery on my shoulder after two other specialists told me there was nothing wrong with my shoulder, they took 3 MRIs and none of them showed anything. Well, finally a doctor from Wellington found what was wrong. I had a rare condition that deteriorated my nerves in my back and shoulder and i had been through two years of not being able to lift my arm above shoulder level, and the final couple months before surgery i couldn't lift it at all. All the therapy the previous doctors put me through and even this last doctor put me through therapy first, and it did nothing, but i'll tell you one thing, it was some of the worst pain I've been through in my life and none of the specialists believed me until the final doctor did an EMG.
