Well Dave Williams has been designated for assignment....that may help!
I found this before the Williams DFA, but didn't get it posted quickly. Thought it was interesting and worth the post anyway.
http://news.cincypost.com/apps/pbcs....605200391/1035TOO MANY CHOICES - With Eric Milton set to come off the disabled list and start tonight's game, the Reds will have to make yet another roster move.
The good news is, they won't be forced to bump off a deserving pitcher to make room for Milton. But of course, that's the bad news, as well.
The Reds could option Elizardo Ramirez back and let him start at Louisville, but he has looked steady enough that it might behoove them to keep him around, even in a spotty long-relief role. They also could option out the struggling Dave Williams (2-3, 7.20 ERA) in an effort to let him get back on track in Louisville.
Then there are the bullpen possibilities. Mike Burns (6.75) could be sent back to Louisville without much room for complaint, and the same could be said for Brian Shackelford (8.22).
That's not even considering Chris Hammond (8.44) and Rick White (7.41), two veterans whose contracts would have to be eaten if the Reds decided to cut them loose.
