As soon as I typed that Olmedo and Denorfia both hit singles.
Louisville is on the board, 3-1 with a single by Jesse Gutierrez.
Louisville is down 6-2 in the 8th.
Chattanooga is up 2-1. Votto is 1-3 with a double. Travis Chick has gone 6 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, walking 2 and striking out 3.
Sarasota is currently in a delay.
Dayton is tied at 0 in the 4rd inning. Travis Wood has 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in 3 innings. Wood has only allowed a bunt single in the first.
Dayton is hitless through 4 innings.
Travis Chick is done for Chattanooga. His final line was 6 ip, 5 hits, 1 run, 2bb and 3k.
Chick has been impressive this year minus that last start where he allowed five runs in the first inning. The stuff is there for him to be a pretty good major league pitcher. Think maybe a 2002 or 2003 version of Kip Wells.
Travis Wood through 4, still just allowed that bunt single. Looks like a nice little pitching duel going.
Chick's future is in the bullpen because he is a 2 pitch pitcher and that secondary pitch(the slider) isn't consistant enough yet, when it is, he can work in the majors. He whipped low A in 2004 with just a fastball essentially, but when you move up to AA, you gotta have something more. That explains his problems 'adapting" to AA more than anything.
Aronchis, I would say he is still 2 years of starting away before you even think of a move to the bullpen. You have to remember he is still 21 years old. Lots and lots of time to develop as a pitcher.
As for Dayton, they are hitless in 5 innings so far.
Chattanooga is up 4-1. Joey Votto is 2-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Aaron Herr is 3-4.
Travis Wood has 7 strikeouts through 4 innings for Dayton. 2 walks to go with that.
Unless he developes a changeup, he won't make it as a starter. He is a 1 trick pony right now, looking to polish up his slider. He is a bullpen pitcher.Originally Posted by dougdirt

Aronchis, like I said though, he has time to develop. I agree that he needs a changeup, and hopefully someone can help him out with it. However to throw him to the bullpen right now would be silly in my opinion based on his age and ability.
Dayton breaks through after 5.2 innings to get their first hit off the bat of Mike DeJesus.
Jay Bruce single scores DeJesus and Dayton takes the lead 1-0.
Louisville lost 6-2.
Chattanooga is up 4-1. Carlos Geuvera has gone 2 innings of hitless relief for the Lookouts.
Sarasota is tied at 0 in the 3rd inning.
