I expect the Reds staff begin to completely implode in the next 1-3 weeks. Guys like the Lizard are about to be shelled, while others such as Arroyo and Coffey will level off. The final key will be the lack of depth. Lee Tunnell is the current bullpen coach. I believe he was scheduled to work in Louisville this year, but Vern's situation changed that. Here are his Major League numbers:

Mays doesn't pitch as well in his second start, giving up eight hits and five earned runs in six innings, but Louisville scores a bunch of runs and gets him his first Reds' organization victory, 8-5.
Now thats what we all expected from him. Glad to see he didn't let us down.

Joe Mays scattered seven hits over 7 2/3 innings as Louisville blanked Pawtucket, 3-0, on Friday at Louisville Slugger Field.
Mays (2-1) walked one and struck out four as he lowered his ERA to 3.20 in his third start with the Bats (24-29), who have won five straight games. The right-hander threw 51 of 82 pitches for strikes and benefited from two double plays.
Brian Shackelford recorded the last out in the eighth before Mike Burns and Scott Chiasson combined to pitch the ninth, with Chiasson recording the final out to earn his fifth save.
Ray Olmedo singled home Alex Sanchez to give Louisville a 1-0 lead in the third. Later in the inning, Ryan Jorgensen scored on a wild pitch by Craig Hansen. Jesse Gutierrez delivered a two-out RBI single in the fifth to cap the scoring.
Olmedo was 2-for-2 with a double and two walks.
Hansen (0-2) took the loss in his fourth start as he allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two over four innings.
Leadoff man Adam Stern was 2-for-5 with a double to lead the Red Sox (24-29), who suffered their fifth straight loss. -- Michael Echan/MLB.com
