    Marland "smoke" Williams

Just noticed in the Sarasota boxscore that the Reds signed this guy, after being released by the D'backs.

He was the centerfielder of the future for the Dbacks until they acquired Chris Young from the White Sox.

While he is still a bit raw, the kid can fly, and if he can ever figure out the strike zone, he could progress.

    Some more info on him...

The SF Giants should've signed him to be Bonds' personal "designated pinch runner"

49 steals per season professionally. 87% success rate.

Lifetime stat line: .257/.317/.366. While below what you'd want, his plate discipline isn't awful. It's merely mediocre. Plus defense, according to that Scout.com article. The problem is power, really. He doesn't have any.

Where have you gone, Herb Washington? Guy ran off so fast, I...
