Driving Directions - Cincinnati to St Louis

In July, I am driving a car to Houston for a friend who is moving there. I of course am decding to make the best of the drive and stop in Cincinnati for the July 14th tilt vs. the Rockies.

Thought I would also try and skip over to St Louis for the 15th game vs, the Dodgers. Problem is, map programs agree on the best route from Cincy to St Louis. So, I ask the local experst, how would you drive it, and how long of a drive is it?

    Thanks!

I just did it recently, and did it directly through mapquest.

Basically you take I 70 up to Indianapolis and then take I 74 to St. Louis its a 5 to 6 hour drive not bad at all.....

When we went to St Louis from Cincinnati a good while back, we took I 71 to Louisville and then I 64 to St. Louis. The only thing is that from Cincinnati to Louisville it is still 65mph speed limit, where as taking I 74 to Indy and then I 70 to St. Louis has a 70mph speed limit all through Indiana.

Yeah, the best way is take 74 to Indy to 70. That will take you right to where you need to go. When you get to Indy, you will see an exit for 465 South. Do not take north. It will take you about 12-15 minutes to get to the 70 West exit. It is the St Louis/Terre Haute exit. Right after you get on 70, there are restaurants and gas at the Plainfield exit- I think it is exit 66 or 68, or something like that. I would advise avoiding it, as it is extremely busy and traffic can be a nightmare there. There are plenty of stops between there and Illinois.
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

I could do this one in my sleep since my wife is from Jefferson City, MO -

You have these reversed. Take I-74 west out of Cincinnati (it ends at I-75 here) to Indy where you pick up I-465 (south or west - you know how those circle freeways are) and connect with I-70 west. You take I-70 all the way into downtown St. Louis. I-74 from the state line is 70 MPH up to Indy, and then I-70 is 70 MPH outside of Indy.

BTW, in my opinion, the Kentucky route is nearly the same distance, but unbelieveably boring and completely lacking in places to stop.

You ain't kidding. On 64 thru Illinois, you can go 30 miles without so much as a gas station.

Not really, 71 is mostly barren. Doesn't go thru the bluegrass region/horse areas like 75 does.

I tihnk the only way to get to St. Louis is to trade for another starter.
