Are we really talking about the wild card in May?

We have to cling to something good about May...

since i grew up in middletown i'll have to reply. when we haven't won anything in over 10 years you cling to anything you can. if we are able to stay in the hunt for the central or WC title come the trade deadline we will get to see what the front office can do. while i don't expect us to make any real noise this season it would be nice to stay in contention long enough to see exactly what we can expect out of the FO.
there's nothing like bowling a 300 game! 13 now and retired.

Absolutely nothing wrong about being excited about being in first place for the wildcard, whether it be (very late) May, or September. Being in second at that time isn't too bad either.

As bad as things have been going the past month, it's extremely surprising that they're 6 games above .500 and in the lead for the wild card. This road trip will tell alot because we'll see if the Reds are more like the Reds we saw in April or more like the Reds we saw in May. I still think that if we finish a few games above .500 for the year it will be a successful season. Anything beyond that is icing on the cake.
