    Make or break road trip?

It's June (well almost) which usually means swoon for the Reds.

    3 @ Cubs
    3 @ Houston
    3 @ St. Louis

Could very well make or break this team. What are your expectations for the trip? How do you think we will come out of it?

7-2. There isn't a team on that list that is better than us.

Any games in our division are important. 5-4 or 6-3 is what I expect if the Reds are truly contenders. Houston and St. Louis are not as good as they were last year, but are still really good teams. The Cubs are just horrible because of injuries and they have not made any trades to help the situation. If we do not pound the Cubs, I will be really disappointed.

I think May has usually been our swoon month.

Two from each club, though they should sweep the Cubs. I'm holding out on Maddux's start for now.

Over the last four seasons May has been better than June. Winning records in 3 out of previous 4 Mays and no winning record in 4 previous Junes. Even last year when may was awful, June was worse.

    Well said!

    - the Cubs are dismal right now (21 losses in May so far; currently 6 in a row).
    - the Cards aren't exactly cruising to easy wins (close scoring whether winning or losing) and have struggled a bit offensively; without Pujols to save the day on so many occasions, they'd be in big trouble (they've lost 10 in May so far; 5 by less than a 3 runs).
    - the Astros have been putrid over the last month (they've lost 17 games in May so far). SF swept them and every game was a blowout; they lost 3 of 4 to the Nats and 3 of 4 to Pittsburgh.

Granted, the Reds have lost 13 in May, mostly due to sleepy offense and a few key errors. Seven of the 13 were lost by less than 3 runs (3 of those 13 by only one run).

This offense simply can not stay in its current slump for much longer; its too good not to come alive and that event is overdue!

I'm really looking forward to a decent June!

Re: Make or break road trip?

I wouldn't say this serries is make or break but I think it will go a long way to setting us up for a real run at contention or simply comming in over .500 but out of the race. Frankly, after last year I'd be happy with either (although being in the race would be better).

I'd like us to wallop on the Cubs, both for the wins and the fact that it's the cubs. If we could go 2-1 or even stay even with Houston and Cards I'd be happy.

I didn't even read the thread, all I did was read the title and post my comment. Sorry there have just been a ton of double posts lately.

I PMed him and apologized, but i didn't think I was mocking anyone. And me posting to read the board before posting a topic is not the reasont he board would begoing in the wrong direction.

I definitely think that this is the make or break road trip of the season.
