Re: Official Redszone mock draft thread

Bill James has wandered into the Red Sox draft HQ, waving around spreadsheets and telling stories about Jackie Jensen and Dewey Evans. Then he goes on to mention that Andre Dawson or Dave Winfield in their primes would have been something to behold and if you see a five-tool wunderkind like that on that board, you might want to draft him.

So with the 40th selection in the draft, the Boston Red Sox select Jason Place, OF, Wren HS, Easley, S.C.

Since the Red Sox didn't, Mark Shapiro would like to add that....the Yankees suck.

    please proceed, Mr. Puffy.

It should be noted that since Place was taken with Johnny Damon compensation pick he will be required to get a Serpico makeover.

The 26 time World Champion New York Yankees (The Red Sox have just one championship in the last 87 years) select Cody Johnson, OF, (HS), Panama City, Florida!

I won't be available to pick until after church today, so if someone needs to pick for me, that is fine. Sorry.

    Maxwell Sapp
    Bishop Moore School C L/R 6'2" 220 1988-02-21 HS 350K
Comments: Scouts like his bat more than his glove. He has left-handed power and has an idea at the plate. Improved conditioning has helped his defense, but many still think he won't stay behind the plate.

Braves select Max Sapp, C/1B, HS (Windemere, FL)

    This is pick #43
