I want Drabek or Hochever. I haven't studied this draft much, but from my initial look that is who I want.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.
I agree 100% completely.Originally Posted by Cedric

read the link i just gave. according to them, its down to lincon, hochevar, miller. though that doesnt mean stubbs wont get taken by themOriginally Posted by edabbs44

But, as we enter the last 24 hours before draft time, the signs say the Royals just might pass up Miller. They like him, of course. But some Royals push for Houston pitcher Brad Lincoln, who they say is more polished. Around baseball, rumors buzz that the Royals might work out a deal with Scott Boras client Luke Hochevar, a right-handed pitcher who was drafted by the Dodgers last year but sat out for more money.
There are even late rumors that the Royals are considering Texas outfielder Drew Stubbs, a talented but exceedingly raw player.

like i said, they will look at him, i just dont see it right now. unless miller, hochevar and lincoln ALL ask for 5 plus millionOriginally Posted by edabbs44
Don't get testy. I hope KC takes him. That way Cincy won't be able to make that mistake.Originally Posted by NewEraReds
How about Marrero? Where did he come from? He was top tier, then fell a long ways and now back to the top 15.
He never performed up to expectations. There's plenty of worry about his ability to make consistent contact.Originally Posted by edabbs44
Agreed, but I couldn't believe they had him at 13.Originally Posted by Outshined_One
Ahhhh...I misread your post. I believe they had the Cubs take him because the Cubs have had a thing for guys in HS who ooze tools...no matter their production. They tend to become enamored with power, as seen with guys like Brian Dopirak and Ryan Harvey. They also like guys who are really athletic, although not always.Originally Posted by edabbs44
They have a new scouting director in Tim Wilken, so we'll see what route he takes. As a Cubs fan (*ducks*), I'm hoping he goes for Snider. The Cubs have a ton of position prospects in their system who strike out a ton as it is. Adding a guy like Marrero, Stubbs, Conger, or Rowell (whose height worries me in terms of his ability to hit inside pitches) would not do much to help that image.

I can somehow envision the name Lincecum stitched on the back of a Reds uni. Dunno, just somehow fits.
