Re: 2006 Official MLB Draft Thread (Day 2)

Lutz, Derrick - RHP - George Washington
Mills, Brad - LHP - Arizona
    Papelbon, Jeremy - LHP -UNF
Tucker, Luke - RHP - FSU
Arik Hempy - LHP - South Carolina
Danny Ray Herrera - LHP - New Mexico

Those are a few I've found from various sites. I'm sure there are others as those are all college pitchers. Surely there is some decent Juco and high school hitters / pitchers and college hitters on the board.

    19TH ROUND.

We take one of those players.

Derrick Lutz, RHP, GWU. 6'0" 210.

Was a closer and then converted to a starter, and he struggled a little.

Fastball/Slider guy. Probably bullpen for the Reds.

He was your best available, so that's good.

That really wasn't a ranking, just a list.

But I'm glad we got him nonetheless.

Re: 2006 Official MLB Draft Thread (Day 2)

Lots of college guys coming off the board early in Day 2, which I believe is normal. Most of these guys have signability concerns because they are underclassmen and won't make as much money as hoped if they sign. Some you hit on, though because they want to start a pro career and get moving, and not go back to school, so worth the risk.
