We're getting awfully close to "we dont' know anything about these guys" territory. This is where the scouts come into play a great deal.

Best available still left? No clue.

Pretty much none of these guys has a write up on them from MLB.com or BA.

Round 28: Reds take catcher Tyler Hauschild out of Edmonds CC (WA).

The fifth Oregon St. Beaver is taken by Arizona- 3B Shea McFeely. There's a name.

How were these picks ranked? Who are the best available players still left?

what i found was he led the team in most offensive categories.

annd, ok, i didn't see someone else had already looked him up

His college only has 2005 stats up and not 2006.

    2005: .167 AVG (3 for 18)

The Red Sox still manage to pluck a guy with a write up in round 28, Carmine Giardina, a HS LHP out of Durant HS in FL.

There's no Mel Kiper best available board anywhere on the intranets for this draft that I can find....so I have no idea how to get you that information, Gallen.

Yeah, it hasn't been big since the days of Mike Schmidt and Bob Brenly. Although the sports admin program has churned out a few folks that were sort of important in recent Reds history.

I'm telling you, they used MLB.com to make their draft list and saved on actual scouting.

Maybe that's why their draft looks so good to us lay-people.

I'm still willing to bet that when all is said and done, they had a very good draft, even if that is how they did it.
