Looks like the Reds are having some "blind" scouting, though that is subjective, as I said, considering the newness, don't expect a ton from this draft.
We have not drafted a Homer Bailey(complete package, smooth release type that needs seasoning) or Wood(great changeup, short, but very athletic) either.
This draft probably won't provide much pitching, which makes me wonder if Cast won't be opening up the checkbook this offseason. Deno and Votto are most likely on the block as well.
By the way, why is LaPorta still on the board?

the problem is the guy profiles to play one position and he is a pure projection for that position at this point. He is Kenny Lewis, a guy with multiple question marks and drafted by a team that has probably the easiest CF to play in all of baseball.
Why is Lars Anderson still available? IIRC, he is supposed to have a ton of power and a great eye at the plate,.

I am wondering where some of these guys are going to go who were projected 2nd/3rd rounders....and why they are falling so far.
I'll take that on a 4th round pick. It's always a maybe something. Hopefully he'll prove unlike Lewis and actually improve over time instead of get consistently worse. It also sounds like Reed has a little sock in his bat (something Lewis never was accused of), gap power instead of none.

Maybe teams see something in him that would cause them to reconsider?
I guess I could better understand the infatuation with CF types if GABP wasn't one of the smallest and easiest CFs to play in the majors.
