Jordan Smith is 6'4" 210. Like the frame, now what kind of stuff does he possess?
    I miss Adam Dunn.

    I count at least two:

    Larkin and Kearns.

I want to say there was another 1st rounder from the 80's, but I'm not sure.
I would say, not counting Kearns because it's too early (yet it looks promising), I would say these were decent picks:

    Bernie Carbo (12 years)
Dan Wilson (14 years - All Star)
Barry Larkin (18 years - All Star, MVP, possible HOF)
    Ron Robinson (9 years)
Don Gullett (9 years - .686 Win AVG)
Gary Nolan (10 years - .611 Win AVG - All Star)
Wayne Simpson (6 years - All Star)
    Nick Esasky (8 years)

The final four all had some injury problems, otherwise they would have had significantly better careers - but things happen.

Now, that's 8 out of 41, although I think you have to draw off the last handful to see how they actually pan out. It's been a rough road, but there were some decent players coming through at the top for a little bit.

Texas takes Jacob Brigham, yet another pitcher I looked at during our mock draft, and liked. HS pitcher out of FL

2nd 6'4 pitcher we took. I like that.

The Tigers are killing me. Ryan Strieby and Jordan Newton are two guys I was hoping the Reds would pick, and the damn Tigers scooped them up before the Reds pick.
    I miss Adam Dunn.

Good point. Also, I think the Reds need to pick the best players available. They must've seen something they liked in that second round pick. Lord knows we need some good relievers in the system as well.
Thank you Walt and Bob for going for it in 2010-2014!

That was just to tease you. The Reds wouldn't have taken them anyway.

Puerto Rico is now subject to the draft. It was a fairly recent change, although I forget the exact year they changed it.

Yeah, his eyes light up when told that he would be a 2nd round pick and could potentially make $300,000.00

Re: 2006 Official MLB Draft Thread

Nevertheless, scouts saw enough of righthander Jordan Smith to run him into the first 10 rounds. Smith went to Salt Lake Community College as a catcher/first baseman but realized arm strength was his best tool and transferred to Southern Nevada so he could pitch. While he was used in a limited role, his fastball sat in the 92-94 mph range and touched 96. More significantly to scouts, he wasn't under control to any club. His 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame is another plus. His inexperience and developing secondary stuff are drawbacks, though his slider and split-finger fastball both improved as the season progressed, as Smith learned to throw both with some power.
