Griffey is probably getting rest today, but I would have liked to see him go against Ponson.
He is 6 for 11 with 3 homeruns against him.

This one definitely is going to make VH-1's upcoming special "Top 25 Awesomely Bad Jerry Narron Lineups."

Is there a worse 3-4 in the history of baseball than Hatteberg and Aurilia? Narron must be on shrooms. Kearns and Dunn are going to freak out pretty soon.

On the verge of a sweep...and this is the lineup?

If it works, sweet....but I don't like how it looks.

I really do like Narron, but every now and then he busts out a real head-scratcher. Just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Now I love Scott Hatteberg as much as anybody, but...dear god. Isn't there some cardinal rule of baseball being broken by putting him in the 3-spot?

Flip Aurila and Hatteberg with Dunn and Kearns (either order) and the lineup looks better.

Put Ross in there where he belongs and looks even better.

    Try this

    Freel
    Lopez
    Dunn
    Kearns
    Hatteberg
    Aurilia
    Phillips
    Ross
    Harang

With that...let's break out the brooms!

Aurilia at clean-up. I say the reds need to breakout the Canes and heating pads.

I like Narron too, but that he takes 2 hot hitters out of the lineup (Ross and Griffey), puts Hat 3rd and Aurilia 4th makes him look insane. The one time we seem to have the Cards number and a chance to tie for the division lead against a 4-0 pitcher with an under 3 ERA and he benches his two hottest players?

Maybe his sanity is in question. Rest Griffey on Sunday or any day but today. Same with Ross.

Flip Hat and Richie with Dunn and Kearns and this is not such a bad lineup [EE and Griffey not withstanding]

FSN's Reds game just did an 8.5 share on TV -- the team is winning games and there is a genuine buzz in the city about the team.

They're going to have a fantastic walk-up crowd for every date this coming weekend, and the fans want to see the best possible lineup out there. Makes no sense to give Griffey a day off in front of a paying home crowd.

Maybe I'm thinking too much and giving Narron too much credit, though.

Griffey not in the lineup because of tightness in his quad from scoring from first.

Not Narron's choice, just a precaution to keep him healthy for the long haul - they feel it's nothing that can't be taken care of with a night off. He is available to pinch hit if needed.

    I just found this out.
