Single Greatest Play

I did a search and didn't come up anything on this.

In your opinion, what is the greatest single play in baseball history? Not serries, not game, but individual play. More importantly, why is it the greatest? There's been a lot of plays made in all these many years, so there's a lot to pick from. Willy Maye's catch? Ruth calling his HR shot? Maybe a world series moment?

Conversely, what is the worst single play in baseball history? Again, why? Buckner letting the ball go thru his legs perhaps? There's been a lot of bummers so there's a lot to choose from here also.

One nominee for the best play is the unassisted triple play by Cleveland SS Bill Wambsganss in the 5th inning of Game Five in the 1920 World Series. It's the only unassisted triple play in World Series history. Unfortunately, the game situation wasn't too crucial as Cleveland was already winning 7-0 when the triple play occurred.

I'm going to go with Bobby Thomson's "shot heard round the world". Two NY teams battling for the pennant, ninth inning comeback and a huge late season comeback for the Giants, and a dramatic radio call that we are very fortunate to be able to have a record of.

So true, the recording we all hear is a recording made by a Dodger fan at home, he was preparing to "gloat" with the announcment of the Dodgers win.

However they lost, and because they lost he decided to deliver it to Russ Hodges. I find it odd that he was recording the feed from the Giants broadcast, there were 3 broadcasts that day, The Giants, Dodgers and a Universal feed.

Which one do you mean, the flip play against Oakland and Jeremy Giambi? That was the ALDS...or do you mean another one? I'm blanking on a historic WS play from him apart from the Diamondbacks homer.
