Cueto went 5 and gave up 1 ER.

Bruce is 2-4 with 2 RBI

Cueto has been slumping a bit, at least for him.

Man, BJ has been a outright disaster this year. He wasn't even this bad last year. I wonder if he is feeling competition from Bruce and with Stubbs in house, he probably feels more pressure. Mercy chap.

Yeah, BJ is very old for the league and isn't showing much.

Attended the Dayton game tonight. Cueto was strong, but in comparing him to Zach Ward last night, I would say it's about time to move Ward up. Both had great stuff but Ward seems more comfortable on the mound and a little more advanced with his "other" pitches. I really enjoyed getting to see Cueto pitch though. His delivery is very smooth, he derives a lot of power from his legs. I also enjoyed the fact that he works very fast on the mound. Bruce looked wonderful again tonight. 2 singles to right and a single fought off to left. He also had a couple of RBI's with 2 outs (he hits with runners in scoring position) For the second night in a row BJ looked bad. He was struck out by multiple pitchers on a night when everybody was smoking the ball. Overall it was a great experience and a few of the starters are real prospects.

Jay might have tonight, but he is hitting .239 with RISP through 6/6. He was however slugging over .500, so when he hits, he has been making it count (like Dunn).

Jay currently has his average up at .287 and his BABIP is at .324. His BABIP has gone from .296 - .324 in the last 4 games.

I was kinda being sarcastic about the risp remark, but youre right when he hits it you know it. Everything bounces off his bat. I did take some pics and ill lok through them and see if anything is worthy of being posted. (not a real good camera)

i hope not. to me, you dont rush pitchers through low and high a. you start doing that once they get to aa. let them get confidence, develop all pitches, learn to throw them all in all counts, etc, etc. let them do that at levels where they are comfortable. then when they have all that. you get them to aa and after that, its all how they pitch. if they are doing well, you move them up

I don't think he would be getting rushed if he hits AA towards the end of the year. If he shows that he his handling high A consistently for the next couple of months, then he should get moved. A few starts in AA and then start him there the following year.

sounds as if Jay Bruce could be the real deal. Would it be fair to assume that he's a left handed Austin Kearns? Can't wait to see how he progresses through the system. Homer Bailey, I'm excited about this kid. Finally (as I cross my fingers) the Reds could have pitching prospect the league will have to worry about.

As far as things being equal, Jay Bruce is ahead of where any Reds hitting prospect has been in my opinion for, well as far as I can remember. The kid is absolutely hitting the crap out of the baseball.

B.J. Szymanski is so bad it's almost hilarious! It's probably because Stubbs basically replaces B.J.'s tools and actual hitting ability. At least he went to Princeton!
