I would imagine he's in Sarasota at Extended ST. As soon as the short season rookie teams start up next week, I'm sure we'll either see him at GCL Sarasota or Billings. IIRC, extended spring training closes after the short season clubs begin play.

Don't know if this is a mistake or not, but BA has Stubbs name bolded, meaning he has signed. Problem is, as I write this, they don't have any of our other signees bolded...????

Stubbs signed for 2,000,000. He is the only one they have listed.
That is right around the average for the 8th pick. The average for the last 2 years is 1,850,000.

Former Texas center fielder Drew Stubbs signed a professional contract with the Cincinnati Reds today.
Stubbs, the eighth overall pick in last week’s Major League Baseball amateur draft, received a signing bonus of $2 million. He will report to the team’s advanced rookie ball camp in Billings, Mont. on Friday.
Stubbs signed in his hometown of Atlanta, Texas this morning. The All-American was happy that the negotiations went quickly and smoothly.
“It’s big for me. Now I can start playing and get my feet on the ground in the minors,” Stubbs said. “The sooner you can start playing, the quicker you can move up.”
Stubbs said that after he finishes rookie ball, he likely will be sent to the organization’s Low-A ballclub in Dayton, Ohio.
Stubbs, the Statesman’s All-Big 12 Player of the Year, batted .342 this season for the Big 12 champions while ranking among the conference’s top 10 players in eight major offensive categories, including runs scored (65), hits (83), home runs (12), and steals (26).

Well I wonder how long he is scheduled to play in Billings, becuase their season ends after Daytons last game, so with what he said I would assume he has a set idea of how long he will play where....
I think they'll do the Jay Bruce thing with Drew. Spend the season in the Wild Wild West, and we'll have Drew Stubbs hitting 3rd in Dayton next year.

I really hope not Heath. There is no reason that a top 10 draft pick from college should be playing an entire season in rookie ball, then starting the next season in Dayton. At least that doesnt make any sense in my mind....or every team who took a college player in the first round last year. Every player drafted from college last year made it to at least A ball, and hardly any of them played more than 2 weeks of rookie ball. Bad move by the Reds in my opinion.
Erben has dominated all season, going 11-1 with a 0.55 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 76 innings. And Erben, who has thrown six shutouts, pitched a stretch of nearly two months without allowing a run.
"We've played teams with stud pitchers," said Erben, who missed most of his junior year with a torn rotator cuff. "Their presence brings an attitude change. As a pitcher, you want teams to fear you."
Making matters worse for opponents is that Erben isn't an easy out at the plate. A designated hitter or shortstop when he's not pitching, Erben is hitting .333 with 33 RBIs and six home runs.

probably a few weeks. gotta figure out what they will do with the of in dayton. you cant promote bj with the way he has played, so they will have to move him to left and figure out where to put cabrera. that of would be sick def though, 3 cf's playing lf, c, rf

Texas star heads to Billings; Club also inks second pick

CINCINNATI -- Just over a week after they made him their first-round draft pick, the Reds signed outfielder Drew Stubbs to a contract on Wednesday.
Stubbs, who played three years at the Univ. of Texas, was the No. 8 overall selection during the First-Year Player Draft held June 6.
The organization and representatives for the 21-year-old had held talks prior to and since the draft. Stubbs delayed signing for a few days so he could move out of his college apartment in Austin and return to his hometown of Atlanta, Texas.
"We feel good," Reds senior scouting director Chris Buckley said Wednesday night. "We were working at it and working at it. We got to an agreement but we wanted some of his family to be there so it took a couple of more days. We're happy to have him in the fold."
Stubbs, who received a $2 million signing bonus, was inked to a Minor League contract and will not count towards the Major League 40-man roster. He will report to the organization's Rookie League team in Billings, Mont., on Friday.
"The sooner he gets on to the field, the sooner he can move on," Buckley said.
As baseball executives have often said, Stubbs' on-field performance will determine how much time it takes for him to reach the big leagues.
"Players move themselves up," Buckley said. "Drew Stubbs will tell the Reds when he's ready to move on. He needs to get out do the things he did at Texas. There are still some things he needs to improve on."
Stubbs, who many rated as the best college athlete in this year's draft class, batted .342 with 12 home runs, 58 RBIs and 26 steals while starting all 62 of Texas' games this season. He was part of the Longhorns team that won last year's College World Series.
Buckley said the Reds have also signed their second-round pick, right-handed pitcher Sean Watson from the Univ. of Tennessee.

Stubbs wasn't the only high-profile Reds pick to sign Wednesday. Second-round selection Sean Watson, a right-handed reliever from the University of Tennessee, also joined the professional ranks.
Their signings follow by a couple of days that of eighth-rounder Travis Webb, a left-hander from Washington State.
With those additions, the Reds have signed six of their top 10 picks in last week's draft. Three of the unsigned top-10 selections - third-rounder Chris Valaika, fifth-rounder Josh Ravin and 10th-rounder Josh Roenicke - are finishing up school this week, and Buckley doesn't expect to get anything done with them until their classwork is complete.
