    June 17 minor league updates

Joey Votto continues to rake as he singled in his first atbat tonight. Travis Chick is on the hill for the Lookouts.

    Sarasota is off.

Travis Wood threw a scoreless first with one K for Dayton. Bruce is 1-for-1 with a single.

I bet Wood is starting to feel a little tired looking at his dropping Krate, Bailey tanked last year as this time.

Wood does not give up hits easily. Would have a 5 inning shutout if the circus hadn't come to town tonight.

Bailey struck out the side in his all-star appearence.

Re: June 17 minor league updates

Just got back from tonight's Dragons game. Another very good start by Travis Wood he pitched 6 good innings tonight allowing only 2 hits and 2 walks and only 1 earned run. The Dragons defense committed 4 errors tonight leading to 2 unearned runs.

Matt Belisle was the next pitcher in the game. He pitched a solid 7th but struggled a little in the 8th giving up 3 singles. One of those was an infield single just off Belisle's glove. The inning was prolonged by another Dragons error that led to an unearned run. He did get out of trouble in that inning with a strikeout and a fly out to end the inning. I can't tell how his velocity was because once again the radar gun was not working at Fifth Third Field. But his delivery looked good and I expect to see Belisle back with the Reds soon.

The Dragons came back from being down 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th on a one out 2 run double by B.J. Symanski. Then Habolito Hernandez singled in a run with 2 outs to give the Dragons the lead.

Jay Bruce looked good again going 2 for 3 with his 24th double of the year.

Blake Hendley came in for his 15th save. He walked the leadoff batter but then got a ground out and two flyouts to end the game.

This comeback win is the Dragons 5th straight win.

That's pretty decent. I guess I would take that. 13-24 with 4 doubles, a triple, and 2 HR's...just OK though.

Chattanooga needs to win today or hope that West Tennessee loses to clinch the 1st half Southern League's North Division for the playoffs.
