Just Got Back from the game

Awesome job Milton was on top of things again its awesome to see him in tip-top shape again. Ya we lost but 3 bad umpire calls ruined it for me ya Brandon made the error but the umps sure didnt help in the 9th lopez was cleary safe and griffey lol griffey no way he swung i think the ump had a date with the lead singer of the band who was playing at the park after the game and he couldnt miss it.. Im going again tommrow ill try and take pics really great game it wasnt all the bullpen seemed the white sox had a few extra players :thumbdown

I know it looks different in person but I thought Lopez was out. His slide seemed to slow him down and when he got to the base his arm was not fully extended. It also looked like Griffey did go around on that attempted check swing, although the White Sox broadcast did not immediately show a replay from the 3rd base angle.
More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

I left as soon as our bullpen began to rear it's ugly head... too predictable. Anyone who wants to downplay the Sox bullpen as one of the strengths of their team can use tonight's game as Exhibit A of "you're wrong." The difference in the game was the difference in the bullpens, and Jenks was even very shaky.

Replay showed he was out, close but out.

If he ran through instead of sliding he would have probably been safe.

There is no question Lopez was out, Griffey clearly swung as well.

Griffey went. : But, seriously, it was close and I have no idea how the homeplate umpire made that call.

But, the Sox got some terrible calls as well. Konerko got called out on a strike earlier in the game, that was way low. Jenks wasn't getting anything close. That umpire was terrible. Very inconsistent. You guys made it a little more interesting than I would have liked, usually Jenks is solid.

Re: Just Got Back from the game

Lopez was out. We were right behind first base--well, just past the Reds dugout, a bit beyond first. But he was out.

Once again, our bullpen can't hold a lead, which is why this team probably won't make the playoffs.

What's with the White Sox fans? Geez, they were almost as bad as the Yankees fans! Walking around like they owned the place. There was a sign on the front of the club level: "2005 World Champions/Chicago White Sox/The dynasty begins . . . " You win one World Series after 80-some years, and it goes right to your head.

And since when do the Sox have that many fans? Wasn't Comiskey basically empty most of last season? I suspect that most of these Sox fans haven't been Sox fans for long--since they won the Series, to be specific.

Of course, we should take pity on them. As Chicago fans, they're so unaccustomed to success that they really don't know how to handle it.

The Sox are, though, a good team. The Reds could've and should've won this one, but . . .when the opposing starter strikes out 13, you probably aren't going to win.

Lopez was definitely out. However, I looked at TIVO of Griffey's last swing (multiple times) and it was a very bad call. He did not swing... his bat never crossed the back part of the plate. Not only did the home plate ump blow it, but he made the call on his own. Definitely a type of swing that should be called by the third-base ump and never-ever s/b called by the home plate ump. Of course I saw enough wacky strike calls from that ump on both teams to not even bother with asking why the heck he made the "swing call" on Junior w/out doing the correct thing and checking with the base umpire.
