What Phillips did is great for the game.

Same with Milledge slapping high fives to the crowd.

Baseball needs a little more Bill Veeck, and a little bit less Paul Tagliabue.
How, then, are those people of the future—who are taking steroids every day—going to look back on baseball players who used steroids? They're going to look back on them as pioneers. They're going to look back at it and say "So what?" - Bill James, Cooperstown and the 'Roids

I'll second that. I guess when there's as much money involved as there is in pro sports, the game becomes a business and you're not there to have fun, you're there to work.

Last night Cohen seemed to be going out of his way to praise BP.

    I just blocked Hernandez out.

Edit: Actually there was a bit of Keith Hernandez wisdom that made me cringe. He was apparently still mad at Hatteburg. Because down 4-1 in the seventh, following Kearn's leadoff single, Hat stepped to the plate. He had a 2-1 count and took a high fastball for a strike.

Keith: What was he looking for there? I mean a 2-1 fastball over the middle?
Cohen: Didn't you read Moneyball, he takes a lot of pitches. He gets on base a lot via the walk.
Keith: (with disgust) How about a double into the gap to keep the rally going.

    After Hatteburg walks
Cohen: He got his walk. Billy Beane said he'd take a team of 9 Hatteburgs.
Keith: (changes the subject) I remember spring training with Billy Beane...done a great job as GM in Oakland...blah, blah, blah.

What is interesting is that Cohen has several times in the last two days referred to the Reds as a "money-ball type team"...
