Starter's ERA

I couldn't help but notice that 3 of our starters have ERA's under 4 with another knocking on the door. I know it is still early, but pretty amazing for this staff....

Arroyo - 2.47
Harang - 3.92
Ramirez - 3.69
Milton - 4.14

Which got to me wondering, when is the last time the Reds had 4 starters with ERA's under 4.00? Would you have to go back to 1988 with Jackson, Browning, Rijo and gang?

Well I looked it up, based off of at least 20 starts, the last time the Reds had 4 starteres with ERA's under 4 would have been 1990 with Armstrong, Browning, Jackson and Rijo. 1996 had 3 guys. 1988 only had 2, Danny Jackson and Tom Browning. 1978 also had 4 guys, Norman, Seaver, Bonham and Moskau.

yeah, everyone had an ERA under 4, almost half of which had an ERA under 3, and one with an ERA under 1
So, in other words, we need 4 new bullpen guys almost as good as Coffey to match their success

The Nasty Boys were unbelievable. I tried to look up the exact stat, but I couldn't find it. If I recall correctly, I think the Reds only lost 1 game all year when they had the lead going into the 8th inning. I wish I knew the exact stat, but basically the Reds never lost when they had a late lead. It was awesome.
