Mays will pitch an outstanding game 7 innings vs. Pedro with 3 hits and 1 run. Bullpen blows up again and well you know the rest of the story.........

After the first inning was over, I walked out to buy a beer. As the beer man was pouring my brew, I told him something to the effect of "many more innings like that & I'll be the best customer you've ever had."
He looked up, saw my Reds hat, then just started laughing.
Edit: And it's also worth noting that Jung Bong pitched the final 3 innings for a save that night.
(Bong came in with a 12-2 lead and notched a save? Has any pitcher ever been spotted a bigger lead than Bong had that night and notched a save?)
And after Boone yanked Austin in the 1st, who did he turn to in the 'pen? Joey Hamilton. When Joey Hamilton gets the call to relieve Jeff Austin, you know your team has the worst pitching staff the game has ever seen...

I. still. hate. jeff. austin.
My worst...driving to Cincy from Memphis and seeing him face seven batters against the Marlins without recording an out to start the game. I wanted him to get run over with a thresher as he left the mound. No such luck.
I was at that game as well. I remember that game moreso than the ATL game.Originally Posted by membengal
