    Would you make this trade?

Dunn and Bailey to Minnesota for Johann Santana.

    Discuss.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

I think that I would almost trade Dunn and Bailey for Liriano. I would hate to give up all that Adam Dunn brings to the table for 1 guy, but Liriano might do it. Johan Santana certainly would.

If I was dealing with Minnesota, my chips would be Austin Kearns and Felipe Lopez. I think Ryan would be more interested in those 2 guys. They need another RH bat with power and Lopez is an upgrade over Jason Bartlett.

    Let's spice it up:

Dunn, Bailey, Lopez and Coffey for Santana and Nathan.

If Dunn and Bailey would snag Santana, why would you give up Lopez and Coffey for one reliever?

no, but I'd do it for Liriano.

Santana is moving into the expensive area of his career where he gets big$$ and a long term commitment which for a pitcher is EXTREME high risk to a small market club. The Reds to build long term success must avail themselves of the cheap years of productive players.

Ditto. I'd take Liriano over Santana any day.

But the Twins would trade Santana over Liriano because of his contract.

As for the Reds, Castanelli needs to reach in his wallet as he said to bolster the Reds for the stretch run.
