I usually do not perpetuate trade ideas or rumors, but I just had a thought.
My trade idea is this, Adam Dunn (who I have been against trading) and Felipe Lopez to Washington for Alfonso Soriano and John Patterson or John Rauch.
It is likely that Soriano will be traded from Washington. A down side is that he is a free agent at the end of the year, so it is a risk. With the new ownership, however, there is always a chance to sign him beyond this year.
The trade would give Soriano a chance to return to second base, Phillips moves to shortstop, Freel becomes the everyday left fielder and if it's Patterson, he solidifies the rotation and if it's Rauch he would help the bullpen.
Soriano also becomes a potent lead-off hitter and Freel could bat eighth, giving you speed at the top and bottom of the line-up.
I realized this may be far-fetched, but I thought I would venture somewhere I said I would never go.
Give me your thoughts, but please be kind.
