Great chance for the Reds to put together a sweep and really put the heat on the Cardinals heading into the break!

I'm cautious about this series because the Reds seem to play down to weaker competition alot. A sweep would be great and is somewhat expected, but I don't think winning 2 out of 3 would be all that bad. All that being said, it would nice if the bats wake up and put up 30+ runs making it easy on the pitchers for a change.

The Royals are truly bad, but they can hit and they've been playing better of late.
These will be close games. High-scoring, but close.

No kidding. It amazes me how well they play against the Cards and Astros, then can't beat the Brewers and Pirates...Originally Posted by Redhook

Royals are waxing Milwaukee today, and, if they close it out, I believe they will have won five of their last six, just sayin'.
The Reds are hopefully not counting those wins before they go out and play the games.
If we don't pull off a sweep, I'dd be pretty disappointed. This team is truly the worst in baseball. We need a sweep this series badly, mainly because the Reds are 5-11 the past 16. Since the Reds couldn't accomplish going more than 1-5 versus the top two teams in that division ... we have to start pulling sweeps versus bad teams to compensate. Thats what happens when you dig yourself in a hole, being just 'good' is not good enough in that scenerio.
Hold on, sava... the REDS are 6-4 vs. Brewers and 4-3 vs. Pirates this season. I know that we wish it was a bit better against those two teams, but still on the north side of .500 against them!Originally Posted by savafan
It's those stinky-smelly Cubs that have been the thorn in the side this year. The REDS are 5-7 against the Scrubs. The only losing record against a NL Central team so far this year for our beloved REDS (5-1 vs. Astros, 6-2 vs. Cards).
Close this thread and lock it! week and ahalf ago someone posted we were going to sweep the white sox.
It's a cursed thread..get out get out! :runawaycr
Go Gators!
not so fast my friends i as the rest of u think the reds will win the series but the royals have won 6-7 yes they are a bad team but they have some veterans in grafinino, mentkiewicz, and stairs who kno how to get the job done but there pitching stinks we should jump on them early and not give them any hope

I don't EXPECT a sweep (I don't think you can ever expect a sweep in baseball), I do expect 2 of 3 though. The Reds have a huge opportunity to put themselves in good position for a playoff run from now until the all-star break. Here's to hoping.
Benzinger backing and calling! And the 1990 world championship series belongs to the Cincinnati Reds!
Everytime people think the Reds are going to walk through someone, they get owned. Despite whatever they may accomplish over a few games (and while I am pleased all in all with the road trip, going 4-3 in New York and Cleveland isn't an amazing great accomplishment worthy of books and folklore), this team just hasn't proven enough to make assumptions on who they should handily beat. I will be certainly be pleased with a sweep, but I'll gladly take 2 of 3 with this schizophrenic Reds team.
For some reason this team can't get going at home. The whole NL seems to be schizophrenic, they just aren't that good. The Reds do seem to play well vs. better competition which hopefully means things even out and the Reds go on a decent run the next couple of weeks.
P.S. Good time for the slumbering big bats to wakeup.
