Ward isnt exactly a soft tosser. He can get it in the low 90s.

Ward is far from crafty, in fact, he probably has some of the best stuff in the Midwest League.

Here is a scouting report on Ward:

Ward, who was rated the No. 13 prospect in the prestigious Cape Cod League following an outstanding summer season in 2004 by Baseball America, is confident in a hard and heavy fastball that has reached into the 95-96 mph range and a slider/power curve that was clocked as high as 87 at the recent A-Sun Tournament. He has grown tremendously since arriving at Gardner-Webb in August, 2002, without much fanfare. He was rated as high as the No. 27 college prospect available by Baseball America in its mid-season draft preview.

COMMENT: Big, powerful and durable frame. Active FB comes in at the low-90s that sinks and tails, but also has a nasty bore. Can dial into the strike zone with it. Throws strikes w/ either a slider or curve. Gets outs w/ either one. Aggressive and maintains poise.

I agree, when I saw Ward he was low 90's; his stuff was overpowering though. He had nine strike outs in six innings, and most of those came on that nasty curve. He seems advaned enough to make the jump.
Back to following MiLB; there's always hope for tomorrow!
