a team in Lexington KY ?
a team in Lexington KY ?
The astros already have a team in Lexington.
Chances are almost non-existent. Baseball requires a team to have one club in High A and Low A. Both Dayton and Lexington are Low A. And the Reds have an ownership position in the Dragons, and a perpetual lease.

It is possible for teams to move up(like Lexington moving to High A), but I don't know the specifics.Originally Posted by JaxRed
I think Round Rock or New Orleans moved from AA to AAA, so it has been done before.
Even then, the odds of the Reds getting an A-ball team in Lexington are unrealistic.
The ownership of that team, The Legends, would love it.Originally Posted by WVRed
And I know that they already have a team. I'm not that stupid.
It makes some logistic sense, and the city would support it.
What High A league would Lexington fit into?Originally Posted by WVRed
Carolina? California? Florida State?
Not happening, especially as long as Sarasota remains the spring training site.
When all is said and done more is said than done.
And the Reds own Sarasota as a High A team 100%.

I don't know if it would ever come about...but the original owners of the Lexington Legends built the park in a way that would make it easy to expand the size to AA size which was always their ultimate goal for the franchise...
There and Back Again...
You gotta think that the Reds would prefer AA in Lex over Chatt.
That would be so cool and fun to see advanced Reds prospects first-hand on a regular basis.
The word synergy is often over-used, but I think that would be so awesome.
yes and no ... It'd be nice for Cincinnati area fans, but might cut into a regional fan base they might want to maintain.
I guess I'm thinking that...
There is a minor league team already in Lexington, so the question is...
Would we rather have central Kentucky following the Rocket (who started his rehab in Lex) and his son (Koby who plays for the Legends now) and all the other Astros as they make it to the show
or
Would we rather have central Kentucky fans anxious to travel to Cincinnati to see their former players now playing for the Reds in the show.
Area teams build interest in the Reds...they increase attendance at the Reds games and they reduce the cost of travel for FO types to watch the farmhands while it also decreases the travel time for players in the system...between teams.

Sure would make for short drives for viewing players, as far as the FO is concerned. AA in Lex, AAA in Louisville, & Cincy. All 3 cities within 1.5 hours of each other.
Bummer, my thoughts were it would be nice to keep Chattanooga and make Lexington the high A team, that would be nice and centralized.Originally Posted by JaxRed
But if the choice were Lex or Chat I'd choose the Lookouts.
Go Gators!
You are all wrong. The AA team needs to be in Dayton
