Who would have thunk it, especially with the God-awful bullpen.

Just imagine where this team would be right now in the standings with even an average bullpen.....

The Cards ERA is around the 6.00 mark in the last month or so.
I long for the days of having Scott Sullivan, Gabe White, and Scott Williamson in the bullpen. With a bullpen like that, this team would be 5+ games ahead of everyone else in the central.
1999
Graves: 3.08 ERA, 111 IP
Sullivan: 3.01 ERA, 113.7 IP
Reyes: 3.79 ERA, 61.7 IP
Williamson: 2.41 ERA, 93.3 IP
White: 4.43 ERA, 61 IP
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
We can only hope that Arroyo keeps this ERA pace up after the All Star Break!
Ain't that the truth. I'm sure Krivsky on the horn trying to get something but so is almost everyone else. So it won't be easy.Originally Posted by redsfan30

And I used to b**ch about some of these guys. What was I thinking? I'd give anything to have all these guys in the pen right now.Originally Posted by RedsManRick

Anyone heard anything about Scott Sullivan? I know he had to shut it down over back problems. I wonder if a comeback is a possibility for him? Seems to me he'd be the type to give it one more try and I'd sure like to see our Reds take a chance on him
He appears to have retired as he is not listed as an active player on the mlb.com search.. it says his career ended in 2004Originally Posted by Sea Ray
That ERA is saying something, considering that after tonight we are dead last in the NL in bullpen ERA, at 5.07.
