Background information
Michael Jones went to Wayne County High School in Jessup, Georgia. For such a small school, the Reds have actually drafted two players from the school before. In 1978 the Reds drafted John Warren in the 11th round and in 1980 they drafted Willie Wilson in the 33rd round. Neither player signed with the Reds.
Scouting Report
Dont have much of a scouting report on his, but here are some things I could find.
Jones has good bat speed and good power. Has the potential to hit for both average and for power. He was drafted a SS, but has made the transition to the outfield in 2006. He has average speed, but an above average arm. He is one of those high risk, high reward type of players. Last year in extended ST, Jones impressed Reds personnel when he hit a 420 foot home run with a wooden bat at age 18.
Minor Leagues
Michael Jones started off last year and finished last year playing for the GCL Reds in rookie ball. He struggled a bit in his first taste of professional baseball. He is repeating his season in the GCL this year, he already has half as many walks in a ton fewer at bats. Hopefully he is starting to get some plate discipline.
