Current Team/League – High A – Florida State League Sarasota Reds

2006 Stats (as of 6/29) .250/3/22 with SaraReds, .398/5/18 with Dayton ….started the year with Dayton and was quickly promoted to High-A ball in April...now everyday SS in Sarasota.

Career recap – spent the entire 2005 season in Dayton…played 55 games…injured in the middle of the year to cut season short…hit .245….played the 2004 short-season in Billings, playing in 66 games and hit .263…..Two-Time First team WAC at Shortstop…helped lead Rice to the College World Series…

IMO Synopsis…..there is no doubt that Janish can be a major-league fielding shortstop….has good mechanics, good feet movement, and possesses a strong throwing arm…bat is very suspect…tends to get into grooves where he feels he can “power” the ball, instead of being a contact hitter…smart and scrappy.. No basepath speed…if he keeps adjusting to hitting, should be in AA Chattanooga by end of year.

Current Projection in Reds Uniform – Probably never – would be a nice prospect to deal if packaged correctly. Would be a very servicible AAA-type player.
