Anybody here thinks that Belisle might be the answer to Weathers as the setup man for Coffey?

I do, especially after the way he looked the other night. I say the sooner the better.

I also think if LHP Phil Dumatrait has a couple of more solid starts at Louisville, he could be recalled to be used in the bullpen, especially if Mercker continues to struggle.

It is a wonder how Dan O'Brien is an employee for the Milwaukee Brewers? Does the guy know talent? Judging by his acquisitions in his short stint as the Reds GM, you have to wonder how this guy still has a job in baseball.

I'm thinking that QM is the next to be DFA'd (if not Weathers), but QM was a WK guy, right?

So far, I think WK has DFA'd three of DanO's off-season acquisitions:

    -Womack
    -Williams
    -Hammond

Only problem with designating McCracken for assignment is that it leaves you short in reserve outfielders. If Freel is starting in CF or taking over defensively for Dunn in LF, and one of the outfielders gets hurt it could create some problems. And I doubt Krivsky wants to recall Denorfia to spend the majority of his time on the bench.

    Dunn
    Kearns
    Griffey
    Freel

    No need for anymore OF'ers.

If you have an emergency for one night, stick anyone with a pulse in LF and then the next day you call up Denorfia. Hell, Larue could play out there if an emergency situation (injury, 20 inning game, etc.) comes up.

The advantage Freel gives us with his versatility is wasted when you clog up the roster with a worthless 5th OF'er (QM).

It is downright pathetic that this guy is collecting a paycheck to do what he does (nothing).

Why not? The future is NOW for Denorfia. He's not a young prospect who has a bunch of development left in him. He's 25 years old and he's likely NEVER going to be a starting outfielder on a good team. That train left the station already.

I honestly think Denorfia and Olmedo will be trade bait for the Reds come the July trading deadline.

    Re: Hammond DFA'd

I think Weathers probably gets a soft landing trip to the DL if he is willing to take it. At his age, one does not recover from "severe tendonitis" in 5 or 6 days like he supposedly did. So he was likely taking one for the team until Belisle got back; and, they will probably return the favor by easing him onto the DL.

Early on he was pitching pretty good. Who knows; with several weeks rest on the DL, he might just be able to come back and give them a positive bump at some point in the second half.
