Who would you pair Marty with in the booth?

My choice would be Chris Welsh. If not his son Thom.

Is Stewart doing a bad job? I heard him last year and thought he was a real yawner without much personality, but I believe that was his 1st year in the booth. Or was it his 2nd? I've probably only listened to a combined 5 innings this year, so I don't know if he's improved. I think Welsh would do a good job as a color guy away from Grande. Thom's a PBP guy and is set in AZ. Lives out there and his wife is a local. Add in the Fox gig and I don't think you'll ever see him back Yawnopolis.

That topic was discussed heavily on this forum several years ago. We all came to the realization that it will never happen, mostly because he will never be reinstated in his lifetime. And also, Marty himself has said it will never happen as long as he is the voice of the Reds.

Does Pete have to be reinstated to broadcast games?

Marty and Pete had a very professional relationship for several years. I do not know all the specifics of Marty's feelings toward Pete, but I know that their relationship has turned sour. I do recall back in 1989 on Pete's pregame interviews with Marty when he denied over and over that he had gambled on baseball. Maybe Marty feels as if this compromised Marty's jornalistic integrity.

Yes. Broadcasters are employed by the team.
