We have teams that compete in the Dominican and Venezuelan Summer Leagues full of our players.... we havent really had much success of bringing them over and having them succeed.

    Last night 4/6/07 :

    Piepkorn, Reds nip Miracle
    April 7, 2007

Jeremiah Piepkorn doubled in the go-ahead run in the 12th inning to lift visiting Sarasota to a 3-2 victory over Fort Myers on Friday night.
With one out in the 12th, Adam Rosales was hit with a pitch by Miracle reliever Zachary Ward (0-1) and moved to second base on a wild pitch. Piepkorn, who went 2-for-5, lined a double to left field to break a 2-2 tie.

Four Reds relievers combined to give up two hits with three walks over 7 2/3 scoreless frames. Logan Ondrusek yielded two hits with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings and Rick Asadoorian followed, surrendering a single and walking three in two innings. Robert Manuel (1-0) retired all six batters he faced to pick up the win. Josh Roenicke struck out two batters in a perfect 12th to earn his second save.

Johnny Cueto started for Sarasota (2-0) and was charged with two runs on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.

Whitney Robbins went 2-for-5 with two RBIs for Fort Myers (0-2). -- Eric Justic/MLB.com
Johnny suffered through some command issues last night, much like he did early last year when moving up to high A ball.

Another non-spectacular outing from Cueto last night, as Sarasota picks up it's 1st loss on the young season.

    Blue Jays edge Reds
    April 11, 2007

Aaron Tressler struck out eight batters in four scoreless innings as visiting Dunedin knocked off Sarasota, 2-1, to split Wednesday's doubleheader.
Tressler gave up two hits and did not walk a batter. Ted Sero (1-0) picked up the win after allowing one run on four hits while striking out one in 1 2/3 innings.

Connor Falkenbach notched his third save with 1 1/3 hitless frames.

The Blue Jays (3-3) scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth, David Corrente's base hit scored Josh Kreuzer. In the fifth, Cory Patton doubled and later scored on an error by shortstop Paul Witt.

The Reds (5-1) cut the deficit in half on Norris Hopper's RBI single in the fifth.

Sarasota starter Johnny Cueto (0-1) pitched 4 2/3 innings, yielding two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four. --Alan Friedman/MLB.com

    Re: Prospect Pofile: Johnny Cueto

Cueto had a blister develop right before the season which caused his first start to get backed up a day. That could explain his small struggles early on.

    Re: Prospect Pofile: Johnny Cueto

Cueto had one bad inning after getting the first two out.

Chris Kroski's RBI single capped a two-run, eighth-inning rally, sparking visiting Sarasota to a 5-3 win over Dunedin on Tuesday.
After Adam Rosales doubled in the tying run with one out, Kroski, a 24-year-old catcher, drove in Rosales.

Reds starter Johnny Cueto went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits, walking one and striking out four. Ruben Medina (1-0) picked up the win with two innings of scoreless relief, while Rick Asadoorian and Josh Roenicke finished up with an inning and two strikeouts each. Roenicke notched his sixth save, matching last year's output for Rookie League Billings in just two weeks.

Rosales got the Reds (9-3) on the board in the second when he doubled in Eric Eymann. Jeremiah Piepkorn chipped in three hits, including two doubles and a pair of RBIs.

Brandon Magee went four frames for Dunedin (3-8), allowing a run on five hits and two walks with one strikeout. Ted Serro (1-1) took the loss for the Blue Jays, who have dropped five straight.

Dunedin scored three times in the third on an RBI single by Jacob Butler and a two-run double by Cory Patton. --Steve Conley/MLB.com

    Re: Prospect Pofile: Johnny Cueto

    I've updated Johnny's stats through May 21, 2007.

Much like last season he started off slow in Sarasota, but has begun to regain last year's form.

I would like to see his high K totals return as well.
