    Prospect Profile: Daniel Dorn

    http://reds.mostvaluablenetwork.com/...draft-roundup/
    32. Danny Dorn, LF, Cal State Fullerton
    6′2″/190#, L/L, Age 21

    Assigned: Billings

Slightly late in signing because CSF was in the College World Series. Interesting article linked there- Dorn fell in the draft this year because of some injuries that cost him part of this college season. He sounds like he might be fairly advanced, at least at the lower levels. Always good to have a few of those Regular Guys That Just Play Baseball.

Dorn hit a three-run bomb last night- his first pro homer. He's done well against slightly younger competition.

Daniel Dorn was the Pioneer League Offensive player of the Week. Thanks to Dougdirt for putting this info in another thread.
    http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/a...milb&fext=.jsp
    Pioneer League
    Daniel Dorn, Billings
    .455 (10-22), 4 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 3 BB, 4 SO, 0 SB, .864 SLG
Dorn went yard against Helena on both Monday and Tuesday, the first two homers of his young professional career. He closed out the week by going 3-for-3 on Sunday, but it wasn't enough as Billings fell to Helena, 3-1. Dorn's .347 average ranks second in the Pioneer League.

He should be up at Dayton next year right? Or do you think move him to Sarasota and team him with Da Bruce.

The Reds don't usually have players skip Dayton. Especially hitters.

They did it this year with Brandon Roberts, who by the way is absolutely on fire since he was traded, hitting .351.

Roberts didn't exactly tear things up for the S-Reds, although he did make the FSL All-Star team on speed and defense. He has very, very little power but fairly nice polish.

I guess it's possible Dorn could go directly to Sarasota, with Stubbs likely ticketed for Dayton and Danny being the oldest of the Mustangs OFs this season (turning 22 about three weeks ago). I might also consider jumping 2B Billy Rojo, who will turn 24 next April. And there's Red Turner and Chris Valaika to play the Dragons DP combo.

Yeah, Roberts is a speed demon on the base paths. It will be interesting to see how guys are promoted next year.

    From the 8/12/06 Billing-Missoula game:
