    Has anyone noticed

We have not heard anything from John Allen this year.
We have not heard that players are disgruntled because the FO has not been communicating with them.
We have not heard "excuses" for the BP blowing games.
We have not once heard that the Reds winning the wildcard is the goal.

What a difference Mr. C and Special K make.

Great points marty......I am especially happy to not be hearing from John Allen. I think he should have gone out the door along with O'Brien.

We'll see if all of that continues if we start to fall out of contention.

I am bracing for the attack I'm going to get for saying this, but has anyone noticed the increased activity of the Reds Community Fund and other community-related events in 2006 now that those parts of the organization report up thru Mr. Allen? I had the opportunity to work with him in 2005 on a joint effort between my company and the Disabled American Veterans, a group he is very involved in considering he is one, and I can tell you that he is 1) much happier working on this side of the operation, and 2) has the skill set to be great at it. I don't think John Allen ever wanted to be a baseball operations guy...he was simply doing what his then boss asked him to do. Now Mr. Castellini is asking him to do something that he is much better suited for, and doing a fantastic job.

No attack from me...I have no doubt that John Allen is happier doing what his skillset and career path led him to do.

Dave Thomas of wendy's Intl. used to have a phrase that he would use to set his early staff when he opened his restaurant..."Aces in their places"...put the best person in the best spot to do the best job and expect the best.

Mr. C is doing the same thing.

Allen was a bad baseball op. guy, but I have never thought that he was actually a bad guy. If he's doing other things that are helping the Reds then I am happy that he's still employed by them. So also no attack here.

I am glad to have actually not heard anything from Allen. But low and behold what has happened twice over the weekend? I have seen Allen running outside the stadium not once but twice before the Indians games. I thought I was going to make it the whole season without seeing his mug, but not true.
