Listening to Joe call the game

I don't know if anyone else was listening to the game on Thursday night, but I was ready to stab myself in the eye with a fork after Joe mispronounced Jorge Piedra's name for the 8th time. He finally got "Piedra" right, and then pronounced his first name "George" twice. He's getting old.... and it's sad.

This is why most of us love him. God bless him!

I can put up with some of the stuff, but I prefer to be able to understand the announcer, as thats the only way I get the game. Joe was good, and I loved what he and Marty had going, but Steve Stewart is just as good, and speaks much more clearly.

I heard the announcers last night on the Rockies broadcast call him "George". So maybe that is how you say it.

After the game when he interviewed Harang he mentioned about how Branson has had an influence on the pitching staff. I am thinking, "Branson, Jeff Branson, Branson, Missouri, what?" Of course he meant Bronson!
This is why we love him.

Steve Stewart is very good. Listening to other teams broadcasts, we are lucky to have him. (Nice call by him on the win tonight!)

Joe has been mispronouncing names since before many of us have been alive.
But, so what - he is Joe. He is an icon. For many years, he has been and always will be the Reds.

I have listened to the reds on the internet the last three nights, and I have to say that I really enjoyed Joe. I can put up with him not pronouncing a name right. He has been around the game along time and that type of experience is hard to come by. I also love the way he roots for the reds. I get a feeling he wants the reds to win more than most fans.

I also love to hear him, although tonight, every time he said "arroya" I had to laugh!

Amen, Concepcion and Quinones were always butchered...and it was fantastic!
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Did anyone here Joe cheering for Griffey's homerun ball to get out a couple night's ago? That was great to here! Had a lot of emotion.

I thought Joe sounded really good tonight. He sounded like the Joe of old and it was great to hear.

I can live with Nuxie's butchered pronunciations, 'coz I can pretty much figure out who he means. It's those haltering, dead-end, play-by-plays of his that drive me batty.

"Hatchebird hits one down the third base line...and it's a fair ball!!!....no wait...or is it.....Adam still at 2nd............................................... ........well, two away and here's Branson Phillips to the plate......"

    "STAY FAIR BASEBALL! ...GONE!"

I like Steve, but Joe calls the game with raw emotion and enthusiasm that makes you feel like a kid again.
