Well its that time of year again! Great Rose Debate: 2006 Edition

Pete Rose on Stephen A. Smith's New York City radio show (12pm-2pm weekdays 1050AM ESPN Radio

Peter Edward was on 1050 in New York for a good 45 minutes, the usual post-book issues were rehased. Oh, but the 2006 added twist is now comparing what Rose did to the steroid users like Bonds, McGwire, ect whom everyone "expects" to be inshrined in Cooperstown eventually

Naturally this sparked the usual "Nothing going on, baseball All-Star Break, HOF inductions later in the month, uh, LETS TALK SOME PETE ROSE!" fodder on the station for about a day and a half

God, the Reds have a 2 and half lead in the wild card in mid-late July. Let's Celebrate that and leave Pete be. We all know as a player, Pete belongs. But he made his own bed!

This is a New York City radio station I'm talking about though, seems like every year around this time (and in January when it gets close to ballot time) the topic comes up.

Funny because there is ALWAYS plenty of RELAVANT baseball talk to talk about!

Problem is, I don't think Pete wants to "let it be" He could have refused the interview, he could have kept quiet untill 5-8 years from now when the "steroid era" players start getting left off the ballot in their first years of elligiblity (starting this coming January with McGwire who was once considered to be an immortal lock to join Ripken and Gwynn in a repeat of 99's threesome class) but everytime someone sticks a microphone in his face, he has to respond. I mean the only time he actually refused was the Jim Gray incident, and probably a good thing as that was the right question at the wrong time!

I don't know this for sure but I'd be surprised if Stephen A. Smith has seen one baseball game from start to finish this season.

He wouldn't know what he was talking about anyway so going to him for baseball current events seems like a losing proposition, no matter who he is speaking with.

The guy could be talking to Buster Olney and all he would want to talk about are steroids, Bonds or race.
