That's the Reds mentality--anything's better than what we currently have.

Difference is, the Sox have the financial ability to chase after pretty much anyone. "Does not get lit up as much as David Wells" isn't exactly something I'd place on the top line of my resume.
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

I think Livan needs pressure to excel, he might just go be lights out in Fenway.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Cincinnati Bengals - None
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

Wells pitched very well last season in Fenway Park. He was 8-1 with an ERA of 3.07 at home.

He just finished a simulated 42 pitch game and will pitch another before a rehab start. There is confidence he will give the Sox at least ten starts down the stretch.

If Wakefield stays healthy, I doubt the Sox trade WMP. First, with Schilling, Beckett, Lester, Wakefield, Wells, there won't be a need. Second, the team's offense has struggled this month hitting just .252 and sinking with today's game a low scoring affair so far. Wily Mo is being counted on to add a lift. Also, they are not likely to get a difference maker type starting pitcher for an outfielder who still hasn't proven he can stay healthy or hit a curveball.

Wait! I forgot we had been discussing Bowden offering Hernandez or Armas. I doubt the Sox would bite on either. Certainly not for anything close to their major league roster.

If Arroyo doesn't revert back to his career norms they did. If he's back to the career 4.5 ERA, long relief/#5 starter type then I for one think the jury's still out on that trade. Obviously if he turned into Cy Young on the plane ride from Boston then this was a slam dunk for Kriv.

Gary Majewski, Bill Bray, Royce Clayton, Brendan Harris and Daryl Thompson

    for

Wily Mo Pena, Mark Loretta and Mike Timlin

You didn't know? That's just the standard AL-NL conversion rate these days.

We could trade them Milton for Pena. We could throw in Mays and or Yan.

So then we would be giving up Milton for Pena and Arroyo. I like.
