    By exact definition, no.

    By baseball penalties, yes.

    Both have the exact same penalty resulting in a lifetime ban, or more accurately, being permanently ineligible.

    Rule #21 is very clear about it.

    Playing for the Tigers and betting on the Cubs/Pirates game is not the same as throwing a game. You could thrrow one with no betting. Sheffield kind of did that along time ago, and few care.
    I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

    The story is early in his career at Milwaukee he wanted traded so bad he intentionally made errors palying third. He admitted to it.
