    The First Concert You Attended

My son went on a Mission Trip this summer and one of the adult chaperones was a guy about my age. My son said he was playing some mix CD's one of which was the Moody Blues, the first band I ever saw in concert.

So it go me wondering what the first concert that folks here ever attended.

As I said, mine was The Moody Blues with Van Morrison as the opening act. It was at the Cincinnati Gardens some time in September of 1970.

I just turned 18 and I have never been to a concert, unless you count the unknown band that I listened to for about 10 minutes after a Columbus Crew game, which I don't even count.

You expect me to remember the first one? I can't remember any of them!

I believe that Tesla opened up the show.

    I bought this T-Shirt:

Yep, it was Tesla. I caught this tour at Freedom Hall, as well.

    Ahh, 1987. What a year!

Well, I'm a bit of a young'in, and also sort of a late bloomer onto the concert scene, so my first real one was The Roots with Talib Kweli and someone else back in '99 (? might have been 2000, I don't remember) at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. And now it's all coming full circle as I'll be seeing The Roots again tomorrow down at Bogart's.

Hey I was at that show too. I think the only Priest song I knew at the time was Diamonds & Rust.

My first though was Elvis in 72 (I believe) at Cincinnati Gardens before he got fat. And then no concerts until the Wings Over America tour in 76...GREAT SHOW!

1968 -- University of Dayton Fieldhouse (not the arena) -- BB King, Canned Heat, and <mumble>. Cops turned off the power at midnight, band kept playing, cops cleared the stage, mini-riot ensued, a real 60's experience.
