    Mike Burns update

Sunday Mike Burns pitched again for Louisville. He went 2 and 2/3 innings, no runs, one k, and one bb. Overall in Louisville, he has pitched 43 and 2/3 innings, and given up only 32 hits and 5 runs! His ERA is 1.03! He also has 41 Ks, and only 7 walks. That is a WHIP of less than 1.00!

I fully realize how badly he has done in his call-ups earlier this season. He has pitched 13 and 2/3 innings, and given up 30 hits and 13 runs, for an ERA of 8.78. Also has 3 walks, two hit batters, and 9 Ks.

His BABIP with the Reds is .528! That means over half of the balls hit into play resulted in hits. That is generally considered VERY unlucky.

At some point this year, Burns needs another shot. His numbers were much better with Houston last year, and his AAA stats are amazing....I also note that he has spot started two games for the Bats....Maybe we should send Joe Mays packing, and try Burns again?

I agree. Maybe it's a mix between nerves and bad luck, but their's no way he can be that dominant in AAA and suck this bad at the ML level. His stuff is good enough to get major league hitters out and he should definitely be given another chance down the stretch.

Giovanni Carrera....i think he had numbers even better than Burns and he was a starter also.... but it did not translate at all to the majors.

He pitched better in the bullpen for the Dodgers later......the ballpark he pitched in also helped.

For the Reds, maybe, but Carrara would find subsequent success in LA's bullpen.

It's called being AAAA. Too good for AAA and not good enough for the bigs. Unfortunately, for them, there are a few of these guys around who just aren't quite good enough and are doomed to frustration.

Don't be fooled by his minor league numbers. Every time he has been in Louisville he has put up great numbers then he is horrible up here. Some people just have triple A talent and Burns is one of them.

Burns may be the pitching equivalent to Brandon Larson. Too bad, because there is certainly nothing left for him to prove at Louisville.

Has pitched in very bad luck, and should get another shot this year. His last shot of course, but his success @ AAA, and previous to this year says that he should get one more shot.
