    Ross back; Mays gone

C David Ross today was returned from his rehabilitation assignment and was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list. Since July 16 he had been on the DL with a lower abdominal strain.

Ross will fill the roster spot vacated by RHP Joe Mays, who has been designated for assignment.

I'm still wondering what the major-league record is for single-season DFAs. We've got to be right there.

The organization would have lost a lot of credibility if it had sent Mays out there again. He doesn't have it anymore.

Germano is scheduled to pitch in Louisville Thursday, so if he does go it won't be him. Gosling would be on 4 days rest and right on schedule, Dumatrait would have an extra day of rest.
