Browns' Pro Bowl center out for season

I heard about this earlier today and saw this article on the FoxSports website.

    Browns' Bentley injures knee

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Stretched out on a flatbed cart, LeCharles Bentley covered his face with a towel to hide his disappointment and tears.

This wasn't the homecoming he had planned.

His first season with the Cleveland Browns ended before it began.

Bentley, a two-time Pro Bowl center and one of the team's prized free agent signings this winter, sustained a season-ending injury to his left knee on the first 11-on-11 drill of training camp Thursday - a crushing blow for a club seemingly cursed by major injuries the past few seasons.

"He was the face of our free-agent class," general manager Phil Savage said. "We feel terrible for LeCharles, but life goes on."

Savage said Bentley tore his patellar tendon and will undergo surgery as early as Friday. Savage declined to say if Bentley's tear was partial or complete and would not speculate on a timeframe for recovery.

I thought he was going to play guard this season?

    That's a huge loss.

Arguably the biggest signing of the Free Agent period, out for the season one play into training camp.

    Wow.

As much as I hate the Browns, it's too bad to see that happen, especially to a Buckeye.

Terrible news...I always hate to see a Buckeye get hurt. I hope he recovers quickly and comes back strong next year.

As a person who lives in Cleveland, I can personally attest to the fact that Clevelanders EMPHATICALLY believe that their city is cursed in sports.

This most recent misfortune does not belie such a belief.

Well, I grew up in Cleveland. I do not believe in curses, however the city has been EXTREMELY unfortunate. "The Drive", "The Fumble", getting it handed to em in the 95 series. Two outs away in the 97 series. Michael Freakin Jordan, I mean seriously fading sideways that ball rims out 9 out of 10 times.

However, there was always the Cleveland Crunch. They were a dynasty!

Ok, its time for Bob Hallen to step up.

Or we need Mike Baab to come out of retirement with Cody Risen.

Just dumb crap again in Cleveland. Rats.

Before the Crunch there was the Force (and after as well).

The Crunch used to have a ticket deal with BP. Fill your tank with 8 or more gallons and get a free ticket.

A couple of buddies and I had season tickets for free one year.

One year, the Crunch was MISL champs. Then they disbanded. That's indoor soccer for you.
