We HAVE to get rid of one of these catchers!

    Tonight; Larue(0 for 3-with a BB and a K so far). Last night; Valentin(1 for 4- single). Wednesday: Ross(1 for 4-double).

Three catchers is one too many. Nobody gets enough playing time to get 'hot'. We tie up a roster spot. (Although Javier and Ross pinch hit well...) I also wonder what we lose by way of consistency in the catcher getting to watch opposing batters and getting to know them better....

We also have to look at the lack of real productivity from Larue and Valentin.
    ABs Avg. OBP SLG HR
    Larue 144 .197 .333 .333 5
    Valentin 126 .222 .286 .317 2
    Ross 123 .309 .380 .675 12

Many have speculated WK is showcasing Larue...I hope it works and we can trade him.

We tried to get a box of Cracker Jack for LaRue, but they said it wasn't enough.

Ahhh....all they were asking in return was a case of Bud and some Village People tickets. Too much for me.

Yeah, but only because someone already took the prize out of the box. :

Roster move needed tomorrow to activate Germano. Maybe we have a suitor for LaRue?

LaRue had a miserable game. He stood up and blocked the umpire on a pitch that should have been strike two, but was called ball four. He flipped the ball back to Guardado like he thought it was going to be called a strike, and the batter stood there for a second, before realizing that he had been walked.

Oh well, the umpire sucked anyway.

I honestly like these three catchers and like having three on the roster:

    • LaRue is one the best defensive and game caller catchers in the league.
    • Ross is one of the best hitting catchers in the league.
    • Valentin is one of the best CLUTCH pinch hitters in the league.

I would ditch LaRue. His swing is awful. Valentin has a nice stroke and would only be better off with a few more regular AB's behind Ross. Similar to last season.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

BTW, I don't really mind it either. LaRue is pretty damn good defensively. I was really frustrated with him tonight, though.

Valentin is just this years Jacob Cruz. We can keep all three.

I will disagree that LaRue is a good defensive catcher. He is average defensively, IMO, and terrible offensively. Didn't he lead the league in passed balls two straight years? Not the mark of a good defensive catcher. He did have an excellent rate of throwing out base stealers a few years ago... but he's been unable to keep up that pace this year and last.

I think LaRue is a mess because he hasn't gotten playing time this year. I still believe he is an above average catcher signed to a reasonable contract and if we deal him for pennies on the dollar, we will regret it next year.

I think they all need to stay cause they all have a good chemistry going with a diffrent pitcher and how long has it been since we had that.
