This doesn't surprise me - whether you like his moves or not, WK has seen what the perceived weaknesses have been and attempted to address them. The #5 starter might still be in question in his mind - certainly SS ought to be.

From Will Carroll at Baseball Prospectus:

The Reds are nothing if not active. After reeling in Rheal Cormier and Kyle Lohse, the team is still looking for more deals, most focused on pitching. A couple sources are saying that Eric Milton could be dealt for a "more compatible" pitcher with similar salary or that could be considered a rental. Let's assume that "more compatible" means "less gopher balls."
    I miss Adam Dunn.

Think for a minute, gang. If we do get that meaningful help to the starting rotation, who will go? Dunn? Griffey? Freel? Edwin? There are your trading chips that would get us that 5th starter. Who wants to trade those guys?

if Milton's the one they're shopping, that takes several teams off the list...Royals etc. are looking to get younger.

Does the Giants need a fly ball pitcher with a fat contract?
