Nice lineup. Well, close enough anyway.

I dont get Narron. If Edwin has a bat good enough to hit clean up when he actually plays, shouldnt his bat be good enough to play every day?

Glad Edwin gets to play today. Lets go Reds!

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I still don't get why Clayton is starting over Castro. And I can't believe I am actually WISHING they'd give the regular starting shortstop job to a guy with Castro's bat.

I also don't get why Ross is automatically stuck at the end of the lineup. What does the guy have to do to move higher in the order? Is Narron just convinced his entire season has been a fluke that is due to regress to the mean at any moment?

Here's hoping last night's debacle jolts the Reds into a streak of hard-nosed, winning baseball.

Dude - catchers bat either 7th or 8th. Geez, its right on page 2 of An Idiot's Guide to Managing.

He might be feasting down there too, less pressure, more fastballs.

    He's killing his PECOTA

    Dave Ross .313/.380/.695

    90% .258/.325/.464

Ross is killing his projection, prior to the year BP had this to say about him
Ross will have to step it up to guarantee himself a roster spot that comes with major league meal money. He’s got enough pop to do it, and can be useful if he can ever top .240.

Very astute observation. Move him up in the order, and I'd garner to say, looking at his performance historically, he wouldn't be putting up those numbers.

And where does he bat in the upper part of the order? In place of who?

I don't think "Baseball Guy" has any idea what regression to the mean (...erm...) means. I think he bats Ross 7th or 8th because, as noted, that's where the catcher bats.

Hell, at least it's not Miley batting Castro second because the shortstop always bats second. (Yes, Dave, when the shortstop's name is Barry Larkin, he does.)

I'm hoping Encarnacion has a game that matches what Ty Cobb did on May 5th, 1925. Maybe, just maybe, a performance like that would help generate future starts.

BTW, on that day, all Cobb did was go 6-6 with 16 total bases, hitting three home runs, a double and two singles.

    Hooray for EE!

Adam Dunn is 1 for 16 in his career against Penny. Griffey is 7 for 19 with 2 homers.

Wow, Clayton in there again - I thought for sure it would be Castro tonight.
