    Zach Ward shuts down Dragons..

Former Dragons pitcher Zach Ward (WP, 8-0) got the start against his old mates, three days after being traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Minnesota Twins for pitcher Kyle Lohse. In his fourth try for his eighth win of the season, Ward was finally successful as the Snappers staked him to a 3-0 lead. The Snappers added a pair of late runs to beat the Dragons 5-1 at Pohlman Field.

Ward stymied his former team allowing only one hit in the 5.2 innings he worked. The only hit Ward surrendered was to Habelito Hernandez who extended his hitting streak to 12 games, the longest hit streak for a Dragons player in 2006. Ward struck out six and walked one and did not allow a Dayton runner past second base all night.

Time for him to get promoted to either High-A or Double-A,
that way he can shut down either the Sarasota Reds or Chattanooga Lookouts.

I'm glad we have a GM who understands that a historically league average pitcher is a bird in the hand while all but a few A-ballers are two in the bush.

If a 7 ERA is league average...

Guaranteed he is no better than some of the other retreads thrown out there this season.

for his career he's Paul Wilson.

this season as a starter he's been atrocious, and not even meeting his own career standards for walks or strikeouts.

as a reliever, even with his horrible debut as a Red, he's still been on the bottom tier of solid in that regard.

he needs to stay in the pen where his performance can be maximized. or at the very least upon Claussen's return, platoon the 5th spot between them (a radical concept yes, but if they're mentally equiped for it...)

I disagree. Krivsky is starting to look like Jim Bowden. Trading all our pitching prospects away.

The Reds will probably being trying to trade for Ward in about 4-5 years when he's in the majors.
